Text description provided by the architects. In a very present and vertical landscape, located on a steep slope facing Lake Calafquén, we project a compact, semi-buried volume.
The access is configured as an intermediate space that marks the arrival at the house, where the lake is transformed into light and the house into shade, and the apparent symmetry and clarity of the volume make clear the mobility, vibration and scale of this landscape.
This reminds us of the old -solitary- buildings from here, that somehow scale in time and size the understanding of the territory.
The roof - intended as volume - was pierced longitudinally, traversing the whole project from the outside to the level -1.
These acts understood as structural, and not superficial perforations, allow the interior to regulate light, ventilation and the relationship between the enclosures.
This house aims to make clear the strength and persistence of a climate through an object that seeks a balance between protection and exposure.
